Olivia’s Doughnuts Recipe

What's in it


2 eggs
1 cup sugar
1 1/2 cups milk
1 1/2 tsp. vanilla
2 Tbsp. shortening
3 3/4 cups flour
3 1/2 tsp. baking powder
1 1/2 tsp. nutmeg
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 1/4 tsp. salt

How to cook it


  • Beat eggs just slightly. Then add sugar little by little. Add the milk and shortening. Sift together dry ingredients. Gradually add to wet ingredients and beat until smooth.
  • Heat oil to 375 F degrees. Grease a traditional stainless steel or aluminum doughnut maker with cooking spray or shortening. Fill doughnut maker. Hold doughnut maker just above surface of hot oil. Press handle and release doughnut into hot oil. Cook for 30 to 60 seconds on each side until golden brown. Dip hot doughnuts in sugar for a sweet, tasty treat. Frost as desired.
