Dani’s Favorite Salad Dressing – from Licia’s Kitchen – San Diego, CA

This is our best guess at the amazing dressing on a Cass Street Oriental Fish Salad

What's in it


1/4 c. soy sauce
1/2 c. rice wine vinegar
1/3 c. mayonnaise
1 teaspoon sesame oil
3 tablespoons brown sugar
1/2 teaspoon ground ginger
1 tablespoon peanut butter
juice from 1/4 lemon (or orange)
1/2 teaspoon grated rind (lemon or orange)
dash of prepared mustard
generous dash of cayenne pepper
dash of garlic powder
sesame seeds

How to cook it


  • Combine vinegar, soy sauce and mayonnaise in container with tight fitting lid and shake vigorously until it reaches a smooth consistency. Add remaining ingredients and continue shaking until you get tired!
  • Serve with tossed greens, bean sprouts, pea pods, cucumber, carrots, chicken or fish, etc. Good with pineapple chunks and raisins. Garnish with crispy oriental noodles and chop sticks of course!
