Performances for Young Audiences
Magic Circle Mime Company
Ankush Kumar Bahl, conductor
At the invitation of the conductor, “Sahara Bob”–an adventurer of questionable character–brings his crate full of exotic musical instruments to the concert. Little does he know the invitation is a trap! Sahara Bob is about to meet the Genie of the Magic Horn, and the audience is about to witness the legendary powers of the orchestra! Renowned for uniting the Concert Hall with visual theater, Magic Circle Mime Company brings together a program that includes Bruce Broughton’s The Magic Horn in four movements, “Morning Mood” and “Arabian Dance” from Edvard Grieg’s Peer Gynt suites, and “Bacchanale” from Camille Saint-Saëns’s Samson and Delilah.
Performance Timing: Approximately 60 minutes, with no intermission
Come early for the Musical Instrument “Petting Zoo” in the lobbies of the Eisenhower Theater. Young concertgoers can get up close and hands-on with the instruments they’ll see played on the stage–from violins, trumpets, and oboes to trombones and percussion. A project of the Women’s Committee for the NSO.
Stay after the 4 p.m. concert for a Kids’ Chat. Young audience members can ask questions and hear engaging stories in an up-close-and-personal talk with the concert artists.
