REGISTRATION FOR THE 2014 PARADE IS NOW OFFICIALLY OPENED!
On Friday, May 9, 2014, the Lisbon Christmas Horse Parade Committee presented donation checks to the Howard County and Carroll County Food Banks and the Lisbon Volunteer Fire Department. The presentation was held on the front lawn of the Maryland equestrian publication The Equiery, located on Lisbon’s “Main Street.”Although communities tend to focus on the food banks during the winter holidays, the truth is that food banks need our help year-round.
Although the 2013 Lisbon Horse Parade was regrettably canceled due to weather, sponsors and donors continued with their holiday generosity and the parade raised a record $8,500 for charity.
$3,160 was presented to each food bank, while $2,180 was presented to the local volunteer fire department. According to Edward Leister for the Carroll County Food Bank, the Lisbon Horse Parade donation has consistently been the second largest donation received each year since the parade began.
In addition to supporting the local food banks, the Lisbon Christmas Horse Parade helps to support the Lisbon Volunteer Fire Department. Not only does LVFD play a critical role with parade logistics, but the LVFD is the first responder for the local equestrian community.
The 2014 Lisbon Christmas Horse Parade will be Saturday, December 13. Based on registration numbers for the 2013 Parade, organizers expect that there will be close to 500 horses in the 2014 Parade, so don’t miss it! The LCHP is very grateful for the generosity of all of our sponsors.
