Spend a family-friendly Halloween at the Fire Museum of Maryland in the warm glow of 19th century lanterns. Oct. 25, 2014, 6 – 8 pm.
Candle and kerosene lanterns are lit on the antique fire engines for this unique Halloween Party. By candle light and soft lighting, re-enactors in period attire share their life stories from the past two centuries. Telegraphers will help you send coded messages across the museum. Visitors can pull an alarm box and see the codes go out from one of four Telegraph and Computer Alarm Offices. There are many hands-on activities, including putting on fire gear and climbing on a 1938 fire Engine! Visitors in costume get in half price. Pull an Alarm Box and see the call go out from one of four Alarm Offices, dating from 1870 to 2000.
Children can dress up in fire gear and climb on a 1938 Mack pumper in the Discovery Room.
Summer hours are Wednesday – Saturday, 10 – 4 pm, June – August.
Outside events are always free, regular admission to see the Museum,
