…where gourds meet friends, laughter, fun, and education.
The Virginia Gourd Lovers’ Society is alive with activities for the collaboration between gourd enthusiasts and artisans working in other traditional heritage arts (most of which align with gourd art!). Beginner to experienced crafting enthusiasts, and artisans alike, can see demonstrations of traditional art and craft skills. Enjoy buying gourds and supplies for gourd craft and art projects. Learn new craft and artistic skills by taking gourd and heritage arts classes. See and learn about heritage arts passed down through generations!
Create a piece of gourd art (perhaps using a heritage skill) to donate to the Auction to support the VLGS. Participate in the Harvest Festival of Gourds & Heritage Arts Competition and The Gail Smith People’s Choice Award Competition! Take some classes — See the 2016 gourd and heritage arts classes below as they are uploaded. Children can do Make & Take crafts for a small donation. Enjoy a weekend of heritage entertainments: the Blue Ridge Thunder Cloggers, the Singing Historian Roy Justice, and blue grass music by The Hatcher Boys.
