About Friends of the Rappahannock
Kids on the Rappahannock Summer Day Camp
Kids on the Rappahannock is a summer day camp that fuses environmental education and river recreation. Each level features activities that are developmentally appropriate for that age group and build river recreation skills from level to level. Join us for some good, old River fun this summer!
Junior River Rangers: Rising 1st and 2nd graders
Our youngest campers, enjoy a half day camp from 9am-1pm. Rising 1st and 2nd graders spend their mornings exploring along the banks of the Rappahannock. Learn about the plants and animals that make the River their home. Play games, meet new friends, hike, make sand castles, and much more! If you like to get dirty and spend time outdoors, this camp is for you! While we do get to enjoy the River along the banks and get wet while wading in the shallows of the River, Junior Rangers do not surf the rapids or paddle.
River Rangers: Rising 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders
River Rangers are introduced to a variety of activities, including kayaking, hiking, canoeing, snorkeling, and tubing. They learn about the Rappahannock River while playing in it! If you like to get wet and have fun while learning about our natural world, join us for a week!
River Rats: Rising 6th, 7th, and 8th graders
River Rats get to experience some special River fun, including a trip to the Tidal Rappahannock and paddling on the River. They hike, kayak, tube, snorkel, and more! Hang out with friends, new and old, while learning river recreation, basic wilderness survival skills, and how to protect the Rappahannock! If you want an outdoor challenge this sumer, then this camp is deisgned for you!
