This week we’re so excited to introduce: Gloria Roma
Hometown: San Diego, CA
Meet the Family: Married to the kindest man in the world, who can lift very heavy things…comes in very handy; 2 boys, 2 dogs, 2 turtles, 2 snakes, 1 mouse…who am I, Noah?
Passions and Interests: I’m passionate about my family, my job and fairness… My big dream is to be a part of helping children learn to be successful, contributing members to society. This is why I got to work every day. I’m interested in how to be a better mom, wife and Realtor. I’m really interested in getting healthy….health used to be my friend…it left me and now I’m in pursuit of it again.
Most Controversial Thing About You: I’m very direct. I love people to be direct with me…but most people can’t handle it.
Biggest Pet Peeve: Replacing things I already have…socks…WTH? Sunscreen; why is it not where it was yesterday and why does it magically appear when it’s raining outside?
One Major Goal You’re Striving For: Bringing entrepreneurship to San Diego schools. The world is changing but what our children learn in school is a mere fraction of what they need to succeed as adults. I want to fund this…I need to list/sell a lot of homes to be able to accomplish this in my lifetime…please send me your referrals 😀
Best Advice You’ve Ever Received: Read and live by the words in the book “The Lost Horse” by Ed Young and your life will be less stressful during times of jubilance and downturns with patience and understanding for any situation
Occupation: Realtor, Inventor, creator of good ideas
What are you reading? Read a lot of books every year…I’m reading three at time right now…it helps me to read more than one at a time so that I take the time to digest what I’ve just read before going on…some books are so bad, IMO, I just can’t finish them…
Favorite Kid-Friendly Restaurant: Having one child that required a family friendly restaurant until he was 14 and one that could eat at the finest restaurant by age 2….I know what you mean. For fun food and enjoying gorgeous view of San Diego on the water…Peohe’s, in Coronado, on the outdoor patio.
Go-To Family Dinner: I have a lot to say about this topic. If you only want the recipe then go to the bottom of my answer. One child will not eat anything…when forced to try different foods (a single bite, PLEASE) he gags and sometimes lets it all go. No cheese for the hubs; so, no wonderful casseroles or anything deliciously cheesy…needless to say dinner time is NOT my favorite. I think most mom’s would give up and stop having a ‘dinner time’ but not me…I’m a die hard. We have dinner time 5-6 days a week together. I make whatever the remaining family members will eat..I try my hand at everything…and my other son lives on cheeseburgers and fruit for dinner. I realize that I just set myself up for major criticizing…I want to live my life…not die of stress…and I was going to, if continued to fight 5-6 times a week. It’s been 2 months since I began this phase…I may win..he said he didn’t want to eat another burger…but it was short lived when I made a chicken dish the next day. I’ve recently learned to make the best (according to all 4 family members-shocker!) roasted brussel sprouts. Directions prep time= 10 m Cook time = 35 m Ready = 45 m Preheat an oven to 475 degrees F (230 degrees C). I tried 450 degrees…they don’t turn out as well. Fill a large pot with water and bring to a rolling boil over high heat. Place Brussels sprouts in water and cook for 2 minutes. Remove sprouts from water and transfer to ice water to cool. Drain and pat dry. Set aside. Place onions in boiling water; cook until nearly tender, about 10 minutes. Remove from water, rinse with cold water, and pat dry. Set aside. Melt butter in an ovenproof skillet over medium heat. Stir in Brussels sprouts and onions; toss with butter to coat. Stir in salt and black pepper; cook for 2 minutes. Transfer skillet to the preheated oven and roast until golden and tender, 15 to 20 minutes. Garnish with lemon wedges and serve.
What types of activities do you like to do as a family? Boating, we love water skiiing, knee boarding, sailing, kayaking, biking and hiking.
What do you do when you have some time alone from the kids? I read, meditate, think of great marketing techniques for the sale of my listings, think of amazing new business ideas I’d love to see in San Diego and binge watch netflix shows when I need to detach from life.
