Welcome to another edition of Meet a Mom Monday!
We are so happy to be able to share all of these talented moms with you and hope that if you are business owner or blogger mom in the area you will reach out so we can feature you and your awesomeness too!
Name: Jessica, because duh, I just told you!
Owner of: parenting blog Mommyhood NEXT RIGHT
Meet the family: married with two super cute baby daughters (freshly 2 & 3mo).
Why we love her: Mommyhood NEXT RIGHT is an authentic account as life as a mom to two youngsters. Jessica does a great job of chronicling her daughters’ lives and her musings and epiphanies as a mother. It’s not about product reviews or site visits or homeschooling or getting fit or decorating or being the craftiest mom on the block; it’s about mommy-ing (which naturally encompasses ALL of those things!). And we love that it’s so relateable.
Why she thinks you should read her site: People should read my blog because it’s pretty darn good. (ahem) What?? That’s not enough of a reason. Okay. Okay. I write, mostly for an audience of moms, about my journey through motherhood, about my challenges, lessons learned, and the sweet, and, sometimes, humorous parts in raising two girls close in age (they’re 20 months apart). I also offer tips on everything from how to make your husband love you more to how to lose weight while breastfeeding. Yeah. There’s a lot there for moms. But, at the heart of my story is something that, I think, is far more universal. I laugh too much and too often. I cry, sometimes. And, I love a lot. I share all of me on my blog, and I’m human, so in reading my story, I think readers will, no matter their walk in life, age, or gender, see some of themselves.
How Blogging Helped Her as a New Mom
A week after becoming a mom, I was abandoned by the world to care for a tiny human being who needed me to feed, love, burp, change, wash, love, hold her. Okay. Okay. I wasn’t really abandoned, but that’s how I felt, I felt abandoned and terribly sad, lonely, and frustrated about my new and changing identity. I didn’t have any mom friends at the time and, of course, my fifty-something mom who had four kids in the eighties didn’t really understand, so I started a blog. Along with providing me with a place to talk openly about my struggles in motherhood, I started my blog to connect with other moms and dads online.
Parenting Two Young Children
I’m a do-what-works kind of a parent. With my first daughter, Attachment Parenting is what kept me sane, so that’s what I did. With my second daughter, I do a little bit of everything. I try not to stress out about the things I think I’m not doing “right” as parent. I try to just go with the flow. Some days, I’m a rocking parent. Some days, I’m not. And, I’m okay with that.
Balancing Work and Family Time
This is something that I struggle with on an, almost, weekly basis. On top of blogging, I am a stay at home mom with a 23-month-old, a newborn, and a 29 year-old son husband, so I often feel stretched in a million directions.
Some things that are helping me are…getting organized. To avoid panic attacks and nervous breakdowns, I make weekly to-do lists for all blogging tasks. Since I don’t have childcare, I work on tasks from my lists, mostly, when my kids go to bed at night. And, I try to remember what’s most important…my family, of course!

I met Liza, foodie blogger extraordinaire, ages ago. I don’t recall the circumstances, but I fell in love with her and her blog the moment I discovered it. Her food and recipe blog just so, um, delicious. Kinda like her. I’m so excited to be able to say that Liza...
