Every Monday we are excited to bring our Tots2Tweens readers a new feature: Meet a Mom Monday!
Because we all love to hear about the awesome things moms like us are doing in and around our community, right?!
They are bloggers, executives, business owners, and chefs. They are from the country, the suburbs, and the city. They are different and unique in so many ways, but the all have one thing in common: motherhood!
And they are all Mom Awesome in their own ways!
This week, in celebration of our re-launch we are going to be bringing you a new mom to meet every day!
These particular moms are the most special to us here at Tots2Tweens because they are the ladies behind the magic we’re making on this here blog!
The founder, the editor (that’s me and I already shared my juicy back story), the writers, and more!
We know it’s not all about us though!
And we hope that some (okay all) of you will share your awesome with us too!
Whether a stay at home mom who volunteers tirelessly at your local senior center and blogs all about it, or the corporate mom who juggles life in the office with a pretty intense knitting hobby earning you a sizeable shoe fund on Etsy, we’d love to hear from you!
Everyone has a story to share and we’d love to help you do that (just leave a comment and we’ll get in touch)!
So, let’s meet our first mama!
This is Imperfect Mama (her real name is sort of a secret!)…
She is mom to a 2 year old monster boy and a pretty new born baby girl.
In addition to mommying her little people she is a blogger (um, duh, she’s one of OUR bloggers too!) with an active, laugh-out-loudish type site called Really? I’m a Mom?
Why we love her blog: Because it’s for real. She doesn’t mince words or leave out feelings because she’s afraid of being judge by perfect moms. I guess that’s one benefit of being anonymous!
Why she thinks you should read her blog: Oh that’s easy! Pssh…its cause I am stinking awesome. Oh…wait, not the answer you were looking for? Well, everyone needs to a laugh right? You are guaranteed at least a giggle visiting my site. I started my site as a way to reach out. For help, advice or just to vent. Then a marvelous thing happened. I met moms like me. Ones who didn’t get to shower before 5pm or even at all that day. Ones, who begged and pleaded for a little me time, I was no longer alone.
So I decided that what I wanted to do with my site was what they did for me. Let anyone who comes to my site know, that they are not alone in this whole mothering thing. And…most importantly…it’s okay to laugh at your imperfect self. Cause there ain’t no such thing as Supermom.
We asked her some serious, hard-hitting-news type questions to help you get to know her. Here’s what she had to say…
T2T: What’s your best advice for new or soon-to-be moms?
IM: Chill out. Don’t take things so seriously. Enjoy your children. So what if Billy Joe has emptied out the pans from the cupboard and started beating them repeatedly. Join in with him. So what if Anne Marie’s pacifier fell to the floor (notice I said floor…not ground)? Wipe it on your shirt – I swear she won’t die if you don’t sterilize it immediately. You gave your kid goldfish for dinner? It’s not the end of the world. I swear they won’t starve. Your child couldn’t latch on and you end up giving your child formula? You are not a monster. You are not a monster even if you didn’t try to breast feed. You don’t make your kids baby food from scratch? No worries. Enjoy that extra time cuddling. Someone once told me this: God made babies to survive parents. And they do. I swear.
T2T: What TV Mom are you most like?
IM: Ok…so this one got me. I looked at my husband and asked for help. We thought for a little bit and then gave up. My husband turned to me and said: “You’re not like anyone at all. You’re just too weird.” Gee…thanks babe. But he’s right. I have been told since I was a little girl, how weird I was. So, I embraced it…after the awkward years of course. I now boast, I am the weirdest person you will ever meet. And it’s true. When God made me…He broke the mold. And it’s a good thing.
T2T: What is your best tip for finding balance? And, how do you beat mom guilt?
IM: Wow…those I am honestly still working on. But am learning – you need to work on you first. How can you expect to take care of that little one if you are running yourself ragged? How can you be truly happy if you feel like a piece of you is missing?
Yeah, I said it. My kids don’t complete me. But, that’s a good thing. Why? Cause my kids are not always gonna be here. I mean, as much as I would love to live with them forever – it aint gonna happen. Wow…sounded creepier than I wanted, but you get my drift. They are gonna grow up and live their lives.
And what type of example would I be for my daughter if I make my kids everything? I want her to know that she can do whatever she sets her mind to. I want her to know that being a mom is awesome…literally the best thing I have ever experienced, and if that’s all she wants great! But she can be oh so much more.
