School Children’s Living History Day

The Pry House will host a special living history program for local school children to learn about Medicine during the Civil War. Museum staff and members of the 17th Corps Field Hospital will be in period clothing as surgeons, hospital stewards, and nurses to give hands-on, interactive demonstrations of a variety of medical practices.

Participating students will rotate among six or seven different stations, each focusing on a different aspect of the lives of soldiers or the work of doctors and nurses. Activities include:

This event is free to all students and their teachers/parents/chaperones. Program activities are geared for a wide age range, but will be most appropriate for students from grade levels 3 to 11.
