Details:

NSO musician Glenn Donnellan has joined together two of his most unlikely interests: the violin and baseball! In this home-run performance, Glenn will introduce you to the Electric Slugger™, an electric violin that he custom made from a Louisville Slugger™ baseball bat. He has used his slugger to play our National Anthem at the start of games at Nationals Park, and now you’re invited to have a ball as he plays this and a variety of violins from around the world. Enjoy a wide range of musical styles, from mystical Eastern music to American fiddling, from Vivaldi to Van Halen. Learn about the history of this special instrument, as well as the science of how it makes its sound. Most enjoyed by age 3 and up.

Come early for a Musical Instrument “Petting Zoo”
Starting one hour before each concert, hands-on activities let children get up close with the instruments they’ll see played on the stage.

Performance Timing: Approximately 1 hour, with no intermission.
