NSO Family Concert: Peter and the Wolf in Hollywood
After moving from Russia to Los Angeles to live with his grandfather, an aging hippie working for a movie star, Peter finds it hard to adjust and meet other kids. Instead, he befriends the animals around him. But when a wolf escapes from the nearby zoo, Peter goes on an epic adventure–complete with robot-building and a helicopter chase–to save his friends. Using a fusion of theater, animation, Foley effects, and the live music of Prokofiev’s original score plus works by other composers, this classic tale becomes an immersive, inclusive, and brand new experience. Audience participation is encouraged–you decide the fate of the wolf! Most enjoyed by age 5 and up.
Come early for the Musical Instrument “Petting Zoo”
Starting one hour before each concert, hands-on activities let children get up close with the instruments they’ll see played on the stage–from violins and trumpets to oboes and flutes.
