Holiday Candlelight Stroll
Welcome the holidays with an evening stroll and a pleasant remembrance of Christmas past. Glowing lanterns light your way as you stroll around Maryland’s historic State Capital, all trimmed in holiday greenery. Walk along the streets of Annapolis, past colonial mansions, Victorian townhouses and quaint shops. New for 2014! Includes an interior tour of the historic Hammond Harwood House.
During this festive 1 and 1/2 hour walking tour you will learn about the origin of many holiday customs. From the significance of evergreens, yule logs and even Christmas trees to the song “sing a song of sixpence, pocketful of rye…” there is no better way to get into the holiday spirit than a glimpse into what made Christmas what it is today. After your 1-hour walk through the historic district, enjoy a guided visit inside the Hammond Harwood House.
Your Candlelight Stroll guide will lead you on a half hour tour of the beautifully decorated house. “A very Maryland Christmas” is the decorative theme this season and each room in the house will be decorated by Garden Clubs around the region. Through the decor, the Garden Clubs will share personal stories of Maryland. You’ll end the tour in the home’s seasonal gift shop and greenery sale.
