FERMENTATION FOR KIDS: PILES OF PICKLES!
Summer vacation doesn’t mean the learning has to stop! In this hands-on workshop, Rachel Armistead of Sweet Farm Sauerkraut presents the basics of fermentation in a fun and approachable way by helping kids make their own batch of pickles. Participants will make and take a quart jar of pickles to ferment at home, along with detailed fermentation instructions and recipes. There will also be plenty of pickles to sample along the way.
Rachel Armistead is the owner of Sweet Farm Sauerkraut, a local fermented foods company that sells a variety of naturally fermented, probiotic krauts, relishes and pickles. She also loves helping people learn how to make fermented veggies at home for themselves. Through kraut sales and workshops, Rachel hopes to once again make fermentation part of our common food culture.
