Drop in or come every week! Tudor Place has enchanted young children for almost two centuries (at right: Armistead Peter 3rd with his nanny, by the Temple Portico). Experience it yourself on Tuesdays through fall, as we meet to read, sing, and play in the shaded gardens. The theme changes every week, from “adventurous animals” to “growing gardens” and more. Children join in an interactive read-aloud, sing songs, and learn movements to go with them, while sharing this enchanting setting with the grown-ups who care for them. Parent/caregivers remain with children throughout. Children: $5 per session or $40 for all ten | Adults: FREE

Today, the remaining 5 1/2 acres of this unique garden maintain much of the original Federal period design. In the early-19th century the family had many different requirements for the land including orchards, vegetable gardens, a stable, and grazing land for cows and horses. Six successive generations of the Peter family cared for and embellished the landscape as Georgetown and the Federal City grew around them.
