Dumfries and Prince William County Revolutionary War Weekend 11 a.m. – 4 p.m.; Free, donations accepted Join us on the anniversary of the mustering in of the Third Virginia Regiment of the Continental Army. In the spring of 1776, several companies of this regiment were formed in Dumfries and marched north to join George Washington’s army. Many notables such as James Monroe were present. Join us at Williams Ordinary and the Weems-Botts Museum as we commemorate this event with living history, demonstrations and tours. Militia and Continental encampments will be set up at both Williams Ordinary and Weems-Botts Museum. Meet James Monroe, George Mason and other notable figures of 1776 Prince William County.
