Days End Farm Horse Rescue Hosts 24th Anniversary Fall Festival

Visitors Invited to Enjoy Costumed Horses, Petting Zoo, Live Music, Beer Garden, Trainers Challenge, Games and More

Woodbine, MD – August 29, 2013 – Days End Farm Horse Rescue invites the public to their 24th annual Fall Festival on September 28th, from 11am to 4pm, at their 58-acre facility in Woodbine, Maryland.

This year’s festival has something for the whole family—games, a petting zoo, pony rides, the “Hops for Our Horses” Beer Garden, cake decorating with Baltimore’s Charm City Cakes, and the 2d annual Trainers Challenge showcase. Guests will also be able to enjoy the jams of local rock band “TwiceOver,” a horse costume contest, and demonstrations by rescued and rehabilitated horses.

This year’s Trainers Challenge will highlight how far 11 rescue horses have come under the guidance of talented volunteer trainers. Attendees will see how much these horses have learned during 90 days of training. Judges will be on hand to select the trainer who has made the most progress.

The Fall Festival is a great way for families to spend a fun afternoon in the country while helping over 110 horses that DEFHR cares for annually. Vendors will add a shopping experience to the day, and DEFHR gear and gently used tack will be available for purchase.

Local businesses are invited to sponsor the event, which is expected to draw over 2,000 people. If you’d like to join Don Hoffacker’s Air Conditioning & Heating, Inc., Win Kelly Chevrolet Buick GMC, Charm City Cakes, Reliable Contracting Co. Inc., and DWM Roofing in sponsoring this year’s event, email or call Caroline Robertson at 301-854-5037. All proceeds directly support DEFHR’s mission of ensuring quality care and treatment of horses through intervention, education and outreach. The organization has rescued and re-homed 1,834 horses from neglect and abuse since its founding in 1989.

The Fall Festival will be held rain or shine at DEFHR’s farm located at 1372 Woodbine Rd. (at the intersection of Routes 94 and 144), Woodbine, MD 21797. Hours are 11am-6pm (Festival hours are 11am-4pm and the Beer Garden hours are 1-6pm). Admission is $2 for adults and $1 for children. Information about the event can be found at Questions? Email or call 301-854-5037 or 410-442-1564.
