Cyrus Chestnut Quartet: Brubeck Reimagined

The DCJF,  in partnership with 6th& I Historic Synagogue is proud to present internationally renowned pianist Cyrus Chestnut who will perform, with his quartet, Brubeck Reimagined,  a special concert in tribute to the memory of one of America’s jazz icons – Dave Brubeck. The revered pianist and composer was one of our nation’s most treasured cultural ambassadors,  who played an instrumental role in further popularizing jazz throughout the world during  the 1950s and ’60s with recordings such as Jazz Impressions of Eurasia and Time Out, the first jazz album to sell a million copies, which featured Take Five, the still instantly recognizable hit single that was the album’s centerpiece. Dave Brubeck died in December, 2012, one day before his 92nd birthday.  Debuted last year in Philadelphia, the Brubeck concert was received with rave reviews from the jazz press.
