The York County Department of Parks and Recreation is partnering with the York County Heritage Trust to offer an Archeology Camp for students aged 10-13 at Horn Farm Center from June 22 through June 26. Campers should be dropped off at Horn Farm Center at 9:30 am, and picked up at 3:30. Campers will learn how professional archeologists conduct a dig, and then work with a supervisor to use those methods to search for artifacts at a historic location. Because this is an actual “dig”, we don’t know what they will find until they uncover something! They will also learn how to record what they find, and what happens to artifacts that are recovered. Special programs and activities that relate to the history of the Horn Farm property will put what they find into perspective so they get a fuller understanding of the history field.
