36th Annual Steam Show at the Fire Museum of Maryland
Come cool off at the hottest place in town! On Saturday, May 4th, 2013 from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m., the Fire Museum of Maryland hosts its 36th Annual Steam Show, and opens for the summer.
Join us for a day full of fun as a 65-foot water tower shoots water out over 50 feet! Children and adults can run under the cascades of water, learn about the history of the fire service and see how fire engines operated in the 1800s.
Steam fire engine demonstrations, horse-drawn carriages and rides in a 1890s hose wagon are featured, as well as contests for the kids. Try operating the 1853 hand -pumped fire “enjine.”
New this year, two hand-pumper fire engines that were in service in Maryland during the War of 1812 go on exhibit in the yard. The Show features Dalmatians and draft horses, demonstrations of late-1800s horse-drawn fire engines, and rides in an 1899 hose wagon. In addition, there are firefighting contests for the kids, steam engine models and a magician performing inside. Food vendors on site.
