Name: Erin Rice
Hometown: Richmond, VA
Hometown Must Dos: Virginia Museum of Fine Arts, Maymont Park, Children’s Farm and Nature Center, Sweet Frog’s Frozen Yogurt, Carytown Cupcakes.
Occupation: Program Coordinator & Curriculum Specialist for a private preschool called Rainbow Station at Wyndham. I am also a mom and wife!
Personal Blog: rickanderin.blogspot.com
Twitter ID: @1erinrice
Meet the Family: Married to my wonderful husband Rick, Toe-head son Cooper, 21 months, Boxer mutt, Fletch.
Biggest Pet Peeve: Mosh-moshing otherwise known as chewing with your mouth open. It drives me insane!
Passions and Interests: I will change the world. I love making a difference. I recently started a blog to document the journey of my preschool. We are about 2 years into a 3 year process to become a Lighthouse School for The Leader in Me. We will be the first preschool in the world to achieve this great task. Follow my professional blog at http://preschoolleaders.blogspot.com/.
One Major Goal you’re striving for: To change the world.
Most controversial thing about you: Preschool vs. Nanny – With programs like mine, it’s hard to understand why anyone wouldn’t pick it over a nanny 🙂
Best Advice you’ve received: As within, so without. However you feel and act on the inside will attract what happens on the outside. Once you get you inside right, you won’t notice the negative outside circumstances. It is soooo true!
Favorite Blog/Website to read: teachpreschool.com
What are you reading? What is your favorite book? I read the Hunger Games to see what the buzz was about but mostly I stick to The Sun Magazine, Southern Living and Good Housekeeping. I have been too ADD keeping up with my life for a good book! 🙂
What is your go-to family dinner? My husband does all the cooking in our house! Our go-to last minute dinner is pita bread pizzas on whole wheat pitas!
Favorite Kid Friendly Restaurant: We don’t go to many; we tent to pick large open air places where Cooper can explore!
What do you do when you have some alone time away from the kids? I go to yoga every week and my husband and I try to do one night away from Cooper/month together to see a movie or a show at The National or play at The Firehouse and then we also try to take nights without the other and Coop. It ends up I usually have a girls night every other month too!
What types of activities do you like to do as a family? Lots of exploring…parks, camping, sporting events, traveling, lots of reading, bike rides, we do everything we can think of. Our most favorite activity is going to outdoor music festivals! We are not the best at doing nothing!
