It’s hard to drive down Rockville Pike without noticing the Mansion at Strathmore. Located in North Bethesda, MD, Strathmore offers family friendly and adult multi-disciplinary arts programs and events. The cultural events include art exhibitions, concerts, performing arts programs and literary lectures and events.
Here’s a look at some upcoming events at Strathmore you don’t want to miss.
For those looking to start your holiday shopping early and support local museums, Strathmore hosted their 22nd annual Museum Shop Around last weekend. It was open Thursday Nov 10 thru Sunday November 13.
The Museum Shop Around can be your one stop shop for holiday gifts since 19 of Washington DC’s museums have set up gift shops at the Strathmore Mansion. Some of them include The National Building Museum, National Geographic Store, The Phillips Collection and Imagination Stage’s Just Imagine. For the full list, visit Strathmore’s website.
Because of the diverse group of museum pop-up shops at the event, gifts can be found for everyone on your list. They also offered Christmas decor such as hand blown glass ornaments as well as photography prints, stationary, iconic American art, handmade puppets and much more.
Admission was $9 ($8 for Strathmore Stars) and all proceeds benefited arts and education programming at Strathmore.
Here’s a look at some additional upcoming events at Strathmore you don’t want to miss.
Not in the mood for shopping, how about a bit of magic? Take your family to Masters of Illusion Live! as you watch feats of magic with your own eyes. See if you can figure out how they do their tricks while you’re entertained by exotic white tigers, escape arts and quick change artists. There are two performances, Saturday, November 19 at 8PM and Sunday November 20 at 2PM. Visit the Strathmore events page for ticket information.
While the kids are in school, head over to Strathmore for one of their afternoon teas. Enjoy a traditional tea time in their cozy Shapiro Music Room. While you’re noshing on tea sandwiches, local musicians will share their talents. Specialty teas such as Hannukah Tea and Tea with Mrs. Claus are also available. Tickets start at $23.
That’s just a short list of the diverse selection of cultural events at Strathmore. Visit their events calendar to see what floats your boat!
