I am a self proclaimed cupcake aficionado. I’d even go so far as to say that I am an expert.
Some people would call me an addict.
I would call those people extremists; just because someone has to have cupcakes every day and thinks about them when they can’t doesn’t mean they have a problem.
I mean, really.
Cupcakes are delicious.
And adorable in their smallness.
And, nearly guilt free because they are like way smaller then an actual piece of cake, which clearly means they are way fewer calories. I mean, good logic will tell you that.
At least that’s what I’m telling myself.
I figure if I’m going to have a vice, cupcakes are not all that horrible.
Unless you’re my waistline.
In my quest to try as many different cupcake varieties as possible I recently took a trip to a nearby cupcakery in my hometown of Frederick, Maryland.
Angelcakes, an itty bitty house of happiness, located on East Church Street in Frederick (near the Everedy Square/Shab Row area) serves up some serious sweetness from their little shop.
I fell in love with the black and white flavored treat (I always try something traditional on my first visit as I feel you can always judge a cupcakery by their ability to create a good old fashion chocolate cupcake) and promised myself I’d go back for the salted caramel and the chocolate peanut butter.
And I will, because they look fabulous. And, from what I hear, everything that comes out of Angelcake’s ovens are blessed with goodness.
I’m not the only one who knows a good piece of cupcake action when I score it either; Angelcakes won the Frederick Cupcake Wars battle recently waged at Kids are Heroes Day, 2011!
They had ROOT BEER FLOAT CUPCAKES people! With straws in them!
Not sure if these will be a regular feature of the shop, but you might want to take a trip to see!
Check them out Tuesday thru Sunday, noon to six at 319 East Church Street in Frederick.
Or, follow them on Facebook to keep up with the tastiness from afar (not sure how that’s as fun, but still): Angelcakes Facebook Page
