Meet Christy. Homeschooling, Stella & Dot Selling Mom-prenuer.

Posted by amandar in Blog, meet a mom on Thu, Oct 27, 2011

We are so excited to have Christy Mossburg on board as one of our Tots2Tweens bloggers!

She is brining us her homeschooling expertise along with her working-from-home-while-running-her-own-business-maintaining-a-family-life-and-finding-time-to-be-normal expertise too!

Something all of us can use a little insight on, no?!

Naturally I put her to the test with our hard hitting interview questions.  But, how about some background info first!

Name: Christy Mossburg

City:  Somewhere in Maryland (calm down, stalkers, that’s all you need to know!)

Owner of:  Stella & Dot (well, one of them anyway)

Meet the Family:  Married, 2 kids, 13 & 15

Why we love her:  She just has so much experience running a business and growing it from itty bitty to super successful.  Women like that can teach the rest of us some pretty cool tricks!

Why she wants you to check out her site: I’m a mom of one public high school student, one homeschooled student (both teens), I volunteer at my church, run my own business as well as run a women’s networking organization, try to maintain some semblance of a normal home and be a good wife and mother in the process.  I love to motivate others and I think that I’ll be able to offer a lot of advice to other mom’s, whether it’s about parenting, homeschooling, running a home based business, balancing life and work — there’s a book inside of me filled with a wealth of information! I just need the avenue to get it out there! Oh – and the time!

Building a Career, Accidentally on Purpose

10 years ago did I see myself here? Not at all and yes, absolutely! I’m very guilty of having way too many interests and not enough time. I’m fortunate that I’ve dived into many of my interests and passions and got a taste of what it was like to live that life (for example, I’m also a fairly decent artist, a certified yoga instructor and served for 5 years as the Director of Christian Education at my your head spinning yet?). But I’ve always loved direct sales and keep coming back to that. It’s no surprise that I feel I knew this is where I would be. Everything else is just a bonus for me!

Finding Inspiration as a Mom-prenuer

[I’m inspired by] Other successful business owners and moms. I’ve got some incredible mentors in my life. Seeing them live out their life and be a fabulous mom in the process motivates me to do the same.

Finding Balance Amidst the Crazy

So much easier said than done! Make sure you carve just a few minutes out of each day to just be you. Whether it’s a 10 minute cup of coffee right before the kids wake up or after they’re in bed I’ve found writing to be my “balance tool”. And squeeze in some physical activity. So important!

Want to learn more about Christy and her homeschooling, direct-selling, mostly-balanced-but-still-working-on-it, crazy fun life (or just want to buy some adorable Stella & Dot accessories)?  Look for her upcoming posts on Tots2Tweens or stalk her here…

About Amanda Rodriguez

Amanda is your friendly, neighborhood T2T head blogger.  She is in charge of bringing the blog awesome to Tots2Tweens on a daily basis!  She is a married mom to three cool Dudes (ages 3, 6, & 9) and one baby dog daughter.  In addition to making magic here on Tots2Tweens she also writes a pretty fan-freakin-tastic humor parenting blog called parenting BY dummies.   When she’s not bringing the pain online or chasing her Dudes up and down a field of some sort she is behind her camera capturing memories for gorgeous people with her Maryland photography business.  She also enjoys reality TV (she was even on a show once!), baked goodness, and watching other people take long walks on the beach.
